  • Rufus the Reading Bear's Birthday Celebrations!

    Published 20/11/22

This weekend, Rufus the Reading Bear has celebrated his birthday!

Rufus was treated to a book themed party at Mrs Anderson’s house and asked for pop-up books for his birthday this year. After exploring his new pop-up books, Rufus enjoyed a large slice of chocolate birthday cake followed by a special birthday bath. Mrs Anderson did have to hold Rufus’s paw as he was a little unsure of the water! He is now super clean and ready to go home with children he spots reading 🐻 📚

He’ll even bring one of his new pop-up books with him!

  • Celebrating our love of Maths as part of Maths Week England

    Published 18/11/22

At Stanton children enjoy the structured approach to learning through exploration in Maths.

Lessons begin with a problem, question or thought and children investigate.  This part is always fun, and we love discussing what we notice.

The teacher then draws the class together, having carefully selected some ideas from the children themselves. The skill then is to guide the children to ensure the concepts have been understood before they take on their independent work for the lesson.

The approach gives each child the change to succeed in maths which leads to enjoyment.

  • Library Open Lunch Hour

    Published 06/11/22

This week we enjoyed our first open library lunch hour of Term 2. At the end of last term, Mrs Anderson and our team of librarians met to discuss how to make the most of our library space and welcome everyone in to enjoy the wonderful books we stock, including new books from our ‘Just Arrived’ section. The librarians had lots of fantastic ideas, including providing book themed activities during open lunch hour. This week, the children enjoyed bookmark making and then used their bookmark to enjoy a book from the library. Our librarians were on hand to make book recommendations and share books with our younger library visitors. Look out for new activities run by your school librarians, every Wednesday lunchtime! 📚
