    Books and ice cream!

Yesterday afternoon, we announced the final count up of our SSQ 50,000 pages reading challenge. As we teetered on the edge with just over 48,000, Rhine Class’ total for last week tipped the balance to a whopping 53,295 pages read! WOW!

As the children waited with anticipation on the school field, the familiar sound of ice cream van tunes could be heard, before something amazing appeared across the horizon- an ice cream van stocked full of ice cream goodness for the readers and book lovers of Stanton School! The children were ecstatic!

This special afternoon was spent enjoying ice cream and books on the field with our friends across the school. The older children helped their buddies to order their ice creams and everyone read stories together. Our afternoon finished with a final story of the year with Mrs Anderson.

Please do encourage your child to keep up their love of reading over the summer- maybe even with an ice cream in hand.

We are so extremely proud to announce that Ella and Roman achieved 'Highly Commended' in this year's 'If You Were an Engineer, What Would You Do?' competition. Both Ella's invention 'Lights Out' and Roman's 'Super Planet Plant Powered Ice Cream Machine' were recognised for their ingenuity and creativity.

Together with their families and Mrs Anderson, the children attended the prestigious awards ceremony in Southampton yesterday afternoon, where they were presented with their awards and saw their designs on display at the exhibition.

There were 48,000 entries that were submitted this year which makes this an outstanding achievement for Ella and Roman. A huge congratulations to them both! ⭐️🏆

  • Awarding our Primary Engineers!

    Published 22/05/23

There was a huge buzz of excitement today as we received our certificates from the Primary Engineering Competition that all children in Amazon Class entered during Term 3, answering the question, ‘If You Were an Engineer, What Would You Do?’

I was so extremely proud of the children’s empathetic ideas and designs and feel that this has been recognised by the judging panel, with all children receiving a commendation for their entries. This year we have received a significant number of Pass (14 children) , Merit (12 children) and the highest grading, Distinction Shortlisted (4 children).

The entries of the four children who received Distinction Shortlisted have now gone to the final round of judging and could be this year's winner! These entries will also be on display at a local exhibition- further details to follow.

We congratulate all the children on their fantastic achievement.
