Rhine Class enjoyed reading The Promise by Nicola Davies.
They then each made their own Penny Promises for the year ahead.
To start the new school year Rhine Class have been learning about their class name. Did you know that the Rhine river once turned red or that it has 4 different names?
We used what we learnt about the river to create our river stone designs, which are now proudly displayed on the window shelves.
Rhine Class had a special visitor from Doorway Wiltshire, a charity who support adults who are homeless in Wiltshire. She spoke to the children about some of the reasons people become homeless, what Doorway do to support them and how we can help too. We were very impressed with the children’s questions which demonstrated they had been listening and reflecting on what they had learnt.

Rhine class love a maths problem, so for our last maths lesson of the year we solved the doughnut problem.
How can you cut into 8 equal parts with only 3 cuts of the knife?
Lots of clever and interesting ideas - if only it wasn't a ring doughnut - then at last someone thought about slicing it horizontally - big cheers all around.
We had to test it on a real doughnut then we enjoyed one each on the field. Maths and food go well together!
