  • Amazon Class Stay and Read

    Published 20/11/22

Thank you to those parents who joined Amazon Class for our first Stay and Read event this week. The children loved showcasing their new book and sharing the different activities linked to this story. At one table, children were enjoying linked texts written by the same author. At the second table, children explored different items from the story, explaining to each other which part of the story the object linked to. At table three, children created their own Humpty Dumpty to display our writing about something that we are fearful of and how we will 'come out of our shell' to face our fears, just like Humpty did.

    Some wonderful ideas and writing!

  • A hallway of Humptys!

    Published 20/11/22

We continue to enjoy our super book, 'After the Fall' by Dan Santat. We have been exploring Humpty as a character, learning new vocabulary and exploring synonyms, inferring meaning from pictures and thinking about what makes a super sentence in preparation for our diary writing as Humpty next week.

This book has a very special message about facing your fears, persevering, coming out of your shell like Humpty and not giving up. We enjoyed making our own Humpty Dumpty to display our writing about something that we are fearful of and how we will 'come out our shell' to face our fears. Some wonderful ideas and writing!

  • Our new book

    Published 17/11/22

This week in Amazon Class we have started our new story to inspire our writing over the next couple of weeks- After the Fall by Dan Santat. This is the wonderful story of what happened to Humpty Dumpty after his fall, and his struggle with perseverance and facing his fears.

Before Mrs Anderson revealed our new book, we thoroughly enjoyed choosing items from the clue bag to help us discuss our predictions about the book, using talk sentences stems.

We then explored the story and have been practising our best storytelling to perform the first part of the book. Today we explored a picture from the story and inferred meaning using the picture, using full sentences. You can read our super inferences around the picture. #motivateeducatenurture #dansantat
