KS2 Word of the Week 15/6/20 (Rhine)

We would love to see more of Rhine class using our new word this week, including commenting on the blog.

Well done to Jamie and Niah for your winning sentences from last week. You both demonstrated a clear understanding of this new word and made other great word choices in your sentences too. Well done and look out for your certificates in the post.

This term, we would like to help you carry on using new vocabulary at home, as we feel it is such an important part of your learning. Having lots of words in your word banks will not only help you when you are younger but when you are older too. Words do not simply fall from the sky and into our brains (wouldn’t that be brilliant though!), we have to learn new words and use them whenever we can.

This certainly doesn’t have to be a chore, because aren’t words absolutely wonderful? There are so many different words that we still haven’t learnt. Long words, short words, words that are tricky to say, words that can be used in lots of different ways. It is no secret that I love words and am learning new words every day, even as an adult.

Use the list of activities below to learn our new word. Maybe an adult could do the activities with you, or why don’t you become the teacher and use the activities to teach everyone else in your household?

Certificates for our weekly winners shall be sent in the post to those not at school. Happy word learning!

After hours of trekking through the forested island, the two castaways finally reached a shimmering lake in the midst of a particularly jungle-like area, they glanced down to check their reflection and how they were looking but instead of a regular person to their horror they saw a pale, slim girl looking vaguely up at them before reaching out a ghostly hand and clasping it around their ankles, pulling them down into the depths of the now inky black lake...

As the two warriors trudged onwards through the inky depths of Tartarus; broken, black glass scythed their feet from under their noses, reducing their own toes to blood-stained stumps.
