Discovering Together

Chocolate Rocks

Today in Amazon we learned how rocks are made!

We learned about how rocks are made by making our own chocolate rocks. First of all we added layers of dark, white and milk chocolate to a small glass lined with cling film. This showed us how a sedimentary rock is formed. We then took the choclate out and held it in our hands. This represented the heat and pressure that forms a metamorphic rock. Finally Mr Lawrence put the metemorphic rocks into hot water to melt the rock. It all got mixed together and formed a hard chocolate rock!
